Is KHM Travel like one of those MLM companies?
Absolutely not! KHM Travel Group is a full-service host travel agency dedicated to training and developing our network of professional travel agents. All of the tools, training and support are geared toward assisting out network of nearly 1000 agents sell more travel. KHM Travel Group does not reward nor encourage recruitment of other travel agents.

How long does it take to get started?
Once you complete our Online Application, you are generally only a few hours away from being able to begin making reservations. When we receive your application we begin setting up your Agent Portal, retail web site, and then linking you with our accounting system. Once completed, we will send you a confirmation email with log in instructions and your username.

How and where do I get customers?
We are frequently asked if KHM Travel Group provides customers. While we do not give customers or "leads" to new agents, we teach you, (as part of our marketing training) how to develop your own clientele. In our training "How to Market Your Agency" we go into depth on how to find and build a clientele with little to no expenditures. Most new agents will begin with their friends and family, building out from there to their warm markets. This includes neighbors, co-workers, associates, alumni, and other groups of people that they associate with. Our company's strategy has been to provide our agents with the highest commission payouts so that they have the funds to advertise or buy leads if they choose.

How do I make money as a travel agent?
As you make travel bookings on behalf of your clients or yourself, our travel suppliers pay a commission on the travel sale amount. The exact commission percentage can vary between 3% and 20%, with the average being around 12%. Whatever commission we receive, we pay you 80% of that amount. How much money can I make as a travel agent?
We get asked this question a lot. First, this is NOT a "get rich quick scheme". Building a travel business requires hard work and time, but it can be very rewarding and profitable. KHM Travel has agents that book travel for themselves and family and make a few hundred dollars of extra income. We also have agents that work at this full time and make over $10,000 monthly. There is no standard, as everybody does this at their own pace. The sky is the limit.

Will I be able to compete with internet travel companies?
Usually this questions is phrased, "are your prices competitive", and the answer is, "Of course". Our company and business model is one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry. Our agents have access to EVERYTHING that any other agent or company would have access to. While our prices are competitive, we encourage our agents to sell themselves and their service as opposed to price. Many of our travel suppliers will price match and you will have access to rates that are not available to the public.

What are FAM trips and are they available to me?
A FAM trip (FAM = Familiarization) is usually sponsored by a particular supplier for the purpose of agent training. A true FAM trip generally requires training and is at some of the lowest prices available.
Recent Example #1: FAM Trip to the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas. Included two nights accommodations for two, reception with appetizers, breakfast, dinner and a show.

Can I get discounts on my own travel?
As an agent with KHM Travel Group, you will have access to information that is not necessarily available to the general public. If you are flexible on your dates and destinations, you can travel at very affordable rates.
(EX: Recently we had a promotion for a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise for just $210 per person.) These types of savings are generally associated with FAM (Familiarization) trips and are made available to agents for the purpose of training. In order to get some discounts and participate in some FAMs, you need to have either a CLIA or IATAN identification card. Both cards are available to KHM Travel Group agents who qualify for the respective cards.
KHM Travel Group does not permit individuals to participate in our program solely for the purpose of obtaining discounts on personal travel.

Do I receive an ID card from KHM Travel Group?
We DO NOT issue a "company" ID card. These are not recognized by suppliers. Instead, we work closely with each agent to help them obtain their IATAN and CLIA ID cards. These are the ONLY truly recognized ID cards in the industry.

How do I get an IATAN card?
We follow the IATAN guidelines for issuing the ID cards. IATAN requires that you be "IATAN Listed" for a minimum of six months. To get listed, we require that you have earned at least one commission check from KHM Travel Group. The second requirement is that you have earned a minimum of $5,000 in gross commissions.in the previous twelve (12) months. Since our agents earn some of the highest commissions in the industry, they are able to earn their IATAN card much faster.

How do I get a CLIA card?
In order to obtain a CLIA card you must complete one continuing education class through CLIA. These classes are offered online for $25 and take about four hours to complete. You are then required to complete an application and submit a $49 processing fee and two passport photos. KHM Travel Group has an entire support section devoted to assisting our agents get the CLIA identification card as fast as possible.

Can I sell airline tickets?
As an agent with our company, you are able to sell ALL types of travel. This includes being able to sell airline tickets. In May of 2002, the airline industry stopped paying commissions to travel agents. However, our agents are still able to sell airline tickets and make money. First, most companies charge a small service fee on all airline tickets. When you book your airline reservations through our system and select partners, you earn a percentage of the service fee. In addition, you are able to add additional commission of $25, $50, $100 or whatever the market will bear to the price of your clients ticket. This applies to both domestic and international air travel.
You also have the ability to work with our growing number of air consolidators.

How do I get prices and make reservations ?
Once you are on board with us, our team will immediately mobilize to help you get registered with our various suppliers. Unlike other companies, we encourage you to establish relationships with these travel suppliers. There is no additional cost to get registered, however, we do have procedures to follow. This will give you access to supplier "travel agent only" web sites where you can research prices, specials and promotions. Many of these suppliers allow you to book your clients travel directly through their web sites. In addition, you will have access to our many third-party booking engines like VAXVacationAccess.

Are there any additional costs that I will incur other than the $39.95 per month?
We realize that many of our new agents are joining our company to earn additional income. As such, we have designed our system to include everything that you will need to start and run your business. We don't want out agents to spend any more than is absolutely necessary. Other than the monthly membership fee (or annual if you choose that option), there are no other costs to join our program. Additionally, all of our training is included in our program at no additional cost.

When do you pay commissions?
KHM Travel Group goal is to provide agents timely payment of all travel commissions. We receive commissions from all our suppliers daily, throughout the month. KHM compiles commissions and generates a statement that is emailed to you and then we direct deposit the funds into your account on the first Friday of each month. Our agents are able to continuously check the status of their commissions from the Commission Manager in their Agent Portal.

Generally, our supplies pay us when the customer completes their travel. In a few cases we may get paid before the travel is complete, and in those cases we pay the agent too.

What kind of support does KHM Travel offer to help you succeed in your business?
We realize that the majority of individuals joining our company have little and in some cases no experience. For that reason, all of our systems, processes, procedures, training and support has been designed with that in mind. We begin your training by familiarizing you with our internal systems. We want you to be comfortable completing a booking within your first few hours.
Your training continues at your pace. Most everything we offer in the line of training is web-based. At any time, you have our dedicated support team standing by to assist you with any questions. Finally, all training is included in our system at no additional charge.

Does KHM Travel require any type of training or education?
While we do not have any formal education qualifications to join KHM Travel Group, we do require new agents to take our training courses.
KHM Travel has three initial required courses:
- New Agent Orientation
- Promoting Your Agency
- Travel Agent Basics 101
Each course is conducted by a trained professional with years of industry experience. These course are available through our Video Library which is accessible 24/7. New agents are able to complete these training's with a modest amount of effort. There is a 27 question test this is required to be completed and faxed back to KHM Travel Group.
We also have an extensive Video Learning Library that will give you access to some of the best training's the industry has to offer. KHM agents are encouraged to continue their education through programs offered by CLIA, ASTA and the Travel Institute.

Why would people use me as their travel agent instead of just going to the internet?
We get asked this all the time. Our business model is growing for a reason. KHM Travel is adding nearly 80 new agents to our company each and every month. There has been a significant shift in the travel industry from the "brick and mortar" agency to the home-based model. Technology is the biggest reason and the internet is the biggest part of that technology shift.
You will have some customers that prefer to book their own travel online. They can now do that from "your" web site and you get paid every time they book travel . Most of the time our agent's clients are calling them to assist with their travel plans. This is especially true on the more profitable complex travel like cruises and vacation packages. Can I have my own web site name?
Yes. In fact we encourage it. Our company has a separate web site where you can check name availability and secure your domain name. This is currently an additional charge of $9.95/year and is billed separate from your monthly membership fee. We also recommend the Deluxe Email Package that gives you up to five custom email addresses for less than $25/year.
